6. Screening Criteria

We will determine the students to be admitted by evaluating the submitted documents and their academic skills as a whole.

Doctoral Program in Geoenvironmental Sciences Conducted individually, approximately 25 minutes for each applicant.
Foreign students may conduct the presentation and interview in English.

  1. 1.Contact the faculty member of your desired research area in advance of the application.
  2. 2.In the oral examination, give a presentation on your master’s thesis and research plan (about 15 minutes.) An LCD projector with D-Sub 15 pin connector will be available for use.
    Bring your own laptop PC and presentation file (power point). Check its operation beforehand. The date and time for the operation check will be announced on the website (http://www.geoenv.tsukuba.ac.jp).
    Prepare approximately 10 slides for your master’s thesis and approximately 2 slides for your research plan. Prepare 15 copies of the documents for distribution as necessary. The students of the Master’s Program in Geosciences (Geoenvironmental Science Field) will have approximately 15 minutes for total presentation (including 5 minutes for presentation about your research plan.)

  1. 1.Submit your TOEIC Official Score Certificate (with photo attached) or the TOEFL Examinee Score Record (with photo attached) at the time of application (photocopy is not accepted). Scores on tests taken within two years from the examination day are valid.
  2. 2.Foreign students who cannot submit the TOEIC Official Score Certificate (with photo attached) or the TOEFL Examinee Score Record (with photo attached) at the time of application must take a foreign language (English) examination conducted separately. The details will be sent by e-mail.
  3. 3.Scores of TOEIC and TOEFL are evaluated based on the reference scores shown below. A score equal to or over the reference score is evaluated as perfect, and a lower score is proportionately reduced.
