7. Admission Site, Announcement of Acceptance & Enrollment Procedure
Admission Site
At University of Tsukuba (1-1-1 Tennodai, Tsukuba-shi, Ibaraki-ken)
Remote examination is available only for applicants residing outside Japan. It will in principle take place by connecting the applicant and the examiners in Tsukuba via Teleconference System. Details will be arranged once the web entries closed.
Announcement of Acceptance
The examinee numbers of the successful applicants will be posted on the website during the term of February 17, 10am to February 25, 10am (JST) 2020.
An acceptance letter will be sent to successful applicants on the same day by the registered mail.
Enrollment Procedure
- Enrollment Procedure Guidelines (which contain documents to be submitted before entrance) will be sent out to successful applicants on Monday, February 17, 2020.
Follow the direction in the Guidelines.
(Note)
The successful applicants need to notify us in advance if they change their postal address. - The documents should be mailed using a designated envelope (which will be sent to you together with the Enrollment Procedure Guidelines) by early March 2020. The deadline will be shown in Enrollment Procedure Guidelines.
- Expenses Required upon Entrance
- (a)Entrance fee is 282,000 Japanese Yen, which is non-refundable.

(b)Tuition: The tuition for the first semester of the 2020 academic year (April – September) is 267,900 Japanese Yen.
The tuition for the second semester (October – March) is 267,900 Japanese Yen (Yearly Amount: 535,800 Japanese Yen).
Full exemption of the tuition fee is expected to be available for the students enrolled in the Ph.D. Program in Empowerment Informatics.-

- ⅰIf fees are revised before entrance or while enrolled in this program, the revised tuition fee will be applied.
- ⅱThe entrance fees are exempted for the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship foreign students or who will be enrolled in this program after completing the master’s program at the University of Tsukuba in March 2020.
- All applicants with a job (except part-time) need a document or a letter (ex; an order for a training course, a letter of leave of absence or an approval letter) from the employer to prove that you are available to complete the program.
- International applicants must acquire a Status of Residence suitable for entrance to a graduate school, in accordance with the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act (Cabinet Order No. 319 of 1951), before beginning enrollment procedures. Those who wish to enter this program as an international student must acquire Status of Residence as a “Student.”
