Special Provision on Educational Method Stipulated in Article 14 of the Standards for Establishment of Graduate Schools

Education provided under special provision

  1. Along with the progress of science technology and the sophistication of society, there are increasing demands for re-education of working individuals at graduate schools. In response to these demands, Article 14 of the Standards for Establishment of Graduate Schools stipulates that graduate schools may, if necessary from an educational standpoint, provide education through appropriate means, which include conducting classes or research guidance in the evening and other certain hours and periods.

    This stipulation provides more working individuals with opportunities to receive graduate school education while in employment and to develop the knowledge and skills to assume leadership roles in educational research and practice. Under Article 14 of the Standards for Establishment of Graduate Schools, master’s and doctoral programs in the University of Tsukuba Graduate Schools, which has achieved in fostering skilled professionals and re-educating working individuals, has introduced a day/evening course system to enhance education and research activities.

  2. Methods of Taking Classes
    The methods of taking classes by a person to whom the above special provision is applied to pay due regard to the convenience, etc. of a student who has occupation and give attention to the maintenance of the standards of graduate schools by maximizing the use of the purpose of the Special Provision on Educational Method Stipulated in Article 14 of the Standards for Establishment of Graduate Schools are as listed below.

    ① Master’s Program in Education (Subprogram in International Education and Subprogram in School Education for the Next Generation)
      【Special Selection Process for Working Individuals】

    1. 1) Among the persons who have been admitted with the Special Selection Process for Working Individuals, those who wish the application of the above Special Provision should acquire 24 credits from class subjects offered in the daytime in the 1st year and 6 credits or more from class subjects offered in the nighttime in the 2nd year.
    2. 2) A person who wishes the application of the Special Provision on Educational Method should submit a course plan to the academic advisor and Chair of the degree program at the beginning of the relevant academic year (2nd year) and obtain approval.
    3. 3) Classes to be taken standard for course completion are as listed below.
    4. Methods of Taking Classes for Course Completion Taking classes at night, etc. out of the left
      Master’s Program in Education
      (Subprogram in International Education and Subprogram in School Education for the Next Generation)
      General foundation subjects 3 credits 30 credits or more Foundation subjects for the major and major subjects 6 credits or more
      Foundation subjects for the major 18 credits
      Major subjects 9 credits
      【Special Selection Process of the One Year Course for Inservice Teachers】

    1. 1) A person who is affiliated with the Special Selection Process of the One Year Course for Inservice Teachers should acquire 30 credits or more necessary for course completion from class subjects offered in the daytime, nighttime, etc. during the course of 1 year of the standard training term.
    2. 2) A person who is affiliated with the Special Selection Process of the One Year Course for Inservice Teachers should submit a course plan to the academic advisor and Chair of the degree program in advance at the beginning of the relevant academic year and obtain approval.
    ② Master’s Program in Disability Sciences
    1. 1) A person who wishes the application of the above Special Provision should acquire 30 credits or more necessary for course completion from class subjects offered in the daytime, intensive, etc. per 2 years of the standard training term.
    2. 2) A person who wishes the application of the Special Provision on Educational Method should submit a course plan to the academic advisor and head of the degree program in advance at the beginning of the relevant academic year and obtain approval.
    3. 3) Classes to be taken standard for course completion are as listed below.
    4. Methods of Taking Classes for Course Completion Intensive Courses,
      Etc. out of the Left
      Disability Sciences Acquisition of 5 credits as general foundation subjects, 7 credits of elective compulsory subjects out of major subjects, and 18 credits or more from among the others and acquisition of a total of 30 credits or more including general foundation subjects and recommended common foundation subjects for graduate school
      Passing of the examination of the master’s thesis and final examinations
      Major Subjects 3 credits or more
