Details of the Eligibility for Admission (Special Selection Process of the One Year Course for Inservice Teachers)

This program is for the purpose of responding to societal demand for the re-education of inservice teachers and acquisition of specialized certificate. In principle, the training term is 1 year.
For the eligibility for admission, individuals who come under one of the requirements from (1) to (8) and satisfy all of the following (a) to (d)

  1. Eligibility Screening is not required for the following individuals
    1. (1)Individuals who have graduated from a university prescribed by Article 83 of the School Education Act
    2. (2)Individuals who have earned a bachelor’s degree pursuant to the provision of Paragraph 4, Article 104 of the School Education Act
    3. (3)Individuals who have completed 16 years of school curriculum overseas
    4. (4)Individuals who have completed 16 years of school curriculum overseas by taking class subjects which are conducted by a foreign school by correspondence education in Japan
    5. (5)Individuals who have completed a relevant course of study which is conducted by a foreign educational facility positioned as a facility that has curricula of a university (those completing the course are limited to those who have completed 16 years of school curriculum overseas) under said foreign country’s school education system and designated separately by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan
    6. (6)Individuals who have completed a specialized course of study (limited to 4 years or more of training term and satisfies the standard prescribed by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) at a vocational school designated separately by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology after a date prescribed by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology pursuant to the provisions of Item 5, Paragraph 1, Article 155 of the Order for Enforcement of the School Education Act
    7. (7)Individuals designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Public Notice No. 5 of the Ministry of Education of 1953: those who graduated from a university under the former University Order or polytechnic university under acts for the establishment, orders for organization of each government organization, and relevant individual acts of independent administrative agencies)
  2. Eligibility Screening is required for the following individuals:※
    1. (8)Individuals who are deemed to have an equal or greater academic ability than a person who graduated from university and who are 22 years of age as of March 2023 as the result of the individual Eligibility Screening conducted by a graduate school of the university (Refer to Note 1 and Note 2)
    1. (a)Individuals who are working as school teachers as prescribed in Article 1 of the School Education Act since the time of the filing of the application
    2. (b) Individuals who have working experience for a total of 3 years or more* by the end of March 2023
    3. (c)Individuals who already have sufficient educational practice of preparing a master’s thesis in the course of 1 year or actual achievements for research articles, etc.
    4. (d) Individuals who substantially consulted in advance with the academic advisor of one’s choice for the research plan, etc.
      * Length of Working Experience
      Calculated as the time to the end of March 2023; provided however, that if the individual resigns before that, it shall be by the scheduled date of resignation.
      If the number of months of experience is shorter than 1 month, it shall be calculated by rounding up to 1 month.
      The period of administrative leave shall not be calculated in the length of working experience.
※ Eligibility Screening is a screening whether or not the individual has equal or greater academic ability than a person who graduated from university by the graduate school of the university before application. Individuals who intend to apply on eligibility of admission (8) come under this.
Read the following Note 1 and Note 2 carefully and apply in the manner of Note 1.

Note 1: For individuals who intend to apply on eligibility of admission (8), an eligibility screening will be made so apply to the Division of Admission, Department of Educational Promotion in advance. After acquiring and filling in the following designated forms and documents, submit them to the Division of Admission, Department of Educational Promotion.

    【Deadline】

  • August Selection Process: June 29, 2022
  • October Selection Process: August 31, 2022
  • January to February Selection Process: November 25, 2022

Furthermore, the receipt of the application documents will be kept on hold until the completion of the eligibility screening.

  1. Individuals who intend to apply on eligibility of admission (8)
    1. a. Written statement by the applicant (designated form)
    2. b. Ordinary application documents (Provided however, that the examination fee should not be paid pending the outcome of the eligibility screening.)
    3. c. Other documents as deemed necessary by the graduate school
  2. Out of the individuals who intend to apply in eligibility for admission ⑧, in principle, foreign applicants who completed university education in a country where the school curriculum up to the completion of university education is less than 16 years and who come under the following (a) and who are deemed to have an equal or greater academic ability than a person who graduated from university in (1) in the graduate school of the university
    1. (a) Individuals who engaged in research for a considerable period of time (approximately 1 year or more) as a non-degree research student, researcher, etc. in a university, inter-university research institute, or research institute equivalent thereto in Japan or overseas following the completion of university education and who are expected to engage in research until March 2023
    2. a. Ordinary application documents (Provided however, that the examination fee should not be paid pending the outcome of the eligibility screening.)

Note 2: Individuals who come under eligibility for admission (8) are those who graduated from a two-year college, college of technology, specialized training college, or miscellaneous category school and those who completed a course (including those who are expected to complete a course) in a foreign university in Japan, foreigner school, and other educational facilities and deemed to have an equal or greater academic ability than a person who graduated from university in the graduate school of the university as the result of the individual screening of individual abilities
