2. Eligibility for Admission

(General Admission/ Special Selection of Working Individuals/ Special Selection of Global Individuals in English)

  1. (1) Individuals who have graduated from university or are scheduled to graduate by the end of March 2021 (for Special Selection of Global Individuals in English, September 2021) in course, according to Article 83 of the School Education Law.
  2. (2) Individuals who have been granted a bachelor’s degree or are scheduled to obtain it by the end of March 2021 (for Special Selection of Global Individuals in English, September 2021) in course, according to Article 104, Paragraph 4 of the School Education Law.
  3. (3) Individuals who have completed or are scheduled to complete by the end of March 2021 (for Special Selection of Global Individuals in English, September 2021) in course a 16-year program of school education in a country other than Japan.
  4. (4) Individuals who, while residing in Japan, completed or are scheduled to complete by the end of March 2021 (for Special Selection of Global Individuals in English, September 2021) in course a 16-year program of school education abroad, through correspondence courses.
  5. (5) Individuals who have graduated from a foreign country’s university located in Japan (after a 16-year education period at the time of graduation) which is recognized by the Japanese Minister of Education as a foreign country’s educational facility. The said university must be recognized by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of the Japanese Government. In this case the applicants must have completed 16 years of formal education in the said country.

  6. (6) Individuals who have been granted a degree corresponding to a bachelor’s degree and Individuals who are expected to be granted a degree corresponding to a bachelor’s degree in the relevant year by completing a program where the course term is 3 years or more (including completing relevant programs by taking class subjects which are conducted by relevant overseas schools through correspondence courses in Japan and completing programs by an education facility positioned under the relevant overseas school education system and which are set forth in the preceding item) in overseas universities or other overseas schools (in regard to the general situation of education and research activities, etc., limited to those designated separately by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as those assessed by Individuals authorized by relevant overseas governments or institutions concerned or anything equivalent thereto).

  7. (7) Individuals who graduated from designated specialized fields of vocational schools after the date decided by the Minister of Education (schools which require 4 or more years of study for completion, and which simultaneously fulfill the other conditions established by the Minister of Education), according to the Enforcement Regulation of the School Education Law, Article 155, Paragraph 1, Item 5.
  8. (8) Individuals recognized by the Japanese Minister of Education as having an ability equivalent or superior to a university graduate in what concerns the admission to a graduate program, according to the Enforcement Regulation of the School Education Law, Article 155, Paragraph 1, Item 6 (Ministry of Education’s Ordinance No.11 of 1947).
  9. (9) Individuals who are qualified to take Master’s Programs in Informatics by the Eligibility Screening described in “14. Requirements for Eligibility”.

Target of Special Selection of Working Individuals

Individuals who continue working more than 3 years as of April 1, 2021.
