3. Web Entry and Documents to be Submitted

With our Web Entry system, you can submit the application online. Read this section carefully before applying online.

Information You Need for Web Entry

1. Applicant’s Information / Program of Your Choice All applicants Follow the instructions on the Web Entry system.
You are requested to upload a photograph for your Reference Card in JPEG format. The photograph must be taken within the last three months and must not include hats or other head adornments.
Furthermore, retouched photos are unacceptable.
2. Supervisor of Your Choice All applicants
Provided however, that for the Master’s Program in Education, only applicants for the Subprogram in Education Sciences
Follow the instructions on the Web Entry system.
3. Eligibility All applicants Follow the instructions on the Web Entry system.
4. Educational Background All applicants Follow the instructions on the Web Entry system.
Research Activities All applicants who have research history
Employment Records All applicants who have employment history
Examination Fees All applicants

Follow the instructions given on the last page of the Web Entry system and pay your fees.
The following payment methods are available.
Credit Card (for all applicants):
Pay your fees online. After the payment, enter the receipt number into the box on the Web Entry system.
Convenience Store (for domestic applicants only):
Pay your fees at a convenience store in Japan. After the payment, enter the name of the convenience store, the date of payment, and the number given by the store into the box on the Web Entry system.

Documents Needed for Application

(The original documents must be submitted by registered mail. These documents need to be received no later than the deadlines.)

Documents Who must submit Instructions
1. (Expected) Graduation Certificate* All applicants Submit a graduation certificate (or an attested document certifying that you will graduate) issued by a university or another educational institution that meets the application requirements for the Master’s Programs of this Graduate School.

Note: Even if you have already earned a master’s or a doctoral degree, you need to submit a graduation certificate issued by the university from which you have earned a bachelor’s degree.

2. Degree Certificate* Those who graduated from a university or another educational institution outside Japan If you graduated from a university or another educational institution outside Japan, submit a graduation certificate for your bachelor’s degree. All documents must be in English or in Japanese.

Note: Even if you have already earned a master’s or doctoral degree, you need to submit a degree certificate issued by a university from which you have earned a bachelor’s degree.

Upload the JPEG file of your degree certificate to the Web Entry system.

3. Academic Transcript* All applicants Submit an academic transcript (the official transcript of your programs history) issued by a university or another educational institution that meets the application requirements for the Master’s Programs of this Graduate School. If any credits were transferred from another school, submit an academic transcript from that school.
If you have completed or will complete a graduate school, submit an academic transcript (the official transcript of programs record) issued by the graduate school, too. (All documents must be in English or in Japanese.)
4. Research Plan Education Download the following form, fill in the required items, and submit. (The form cannot be submitted when changed.)

Psychology For the content and plan to research after admission, the research plan should state your name, research subject, academic advisor of your choice Within two A4 sized papers in portrait orientation and written horizontally, one-side printing, within 2,000 characters Can be in English (Up to two A4 sized papers). Exclude charts and cited literature in the number of characters.
Disability Sciences Download the form below, fill it within a A4 sized papers, and submit it to us. (The form cannot be submitted when changed.)

5. Track Records on International Education Education (Subprogram in International Education)

Download the form below, fill it in, and submit it to us.

6.Certificate of Employment Applicants in the Special Selection Process of the One Year Course for Inservice Teachers Certificate of Employment that satisfies the eligibility for admission (Certifies a total of 3 years or more of experience working) Submit a Certificate of Employment (any format, A4 sized paper) from your immediate manager (official who head the board of education, etc.). When the working experience includes a part-time position, also submit the Certificate of Employment for the period. (Specify the job appointment period for the full-time position and number of working hours for the part-time position.)
7.Employment History All applicants with an employment history Download the form below, fill it in, and submit it to us. (The form cannot be submitted when changed.)

8.Research and Practice Track Record Applicants in the Special Selection Process for Working Individuals Download the form below, fill it in, and submit it to us. (The form cannot be submitted when changed.)

① Fill in the required items and submit.
② If there are other printed literature and production that show your activities, attach less than 5 major items. For productions, explain by using pictures, etc, instead of the actual production.
Furthermore, submitted publications, etc. will be returned following the completion the examination.

9.Education and Research Track Record Applicants in the Special Selection Process of the One Year Course for Inservice Teachers Download the form below, fill it in, and submit it to us. (The form cannot be submitted when changed.)

① Fill in the required items. This record is necessary to check the eligibility for admission so fill in and submit.
② If there are other printed literature and production that show your activities, attach less than 5 major items. For productions, explain by using pictures, etc, instead of the actual production. Furthermore, submitted publications, etc. will be returned following the completion the examination.

11.Certificate of Research History Relevant Foreign Applicants Download the form below, fill it in, and submit it to us. (The form cannot be submitted when changed.)

Among the foreign applicants, those who complete university education in a country where the course of school education up to the completion of university education is less than 16 years, who engage in research for a considerable period of time (approximately one year or more) as a non-degree research student, researcher, etc. in a university, inter-university research institute, or research institute equivalent thereto in Japan or overseas following the completion of university education, and who has attained 22 years of age or expected to become should receive certification from the head of the institute, etc. on the designated form; provided however, that international students who become non-degree research students of graduate schools of this university may substitute the Certificate of Enrollment provided by this university (for scholarship application) for the Certificate of Research History.
Apply by the automated certificate issuing machine on-campus and submit.

12. Copy of “Application Completed” Page of Examination Fee Payment by Credit Card Applicants who made a credit card payment

After the payment, print out the “Application Completed” page, and submit it to us by airmail.
13. Receipt Portion (Certificate of Payment) of Examination Fee Statement Applicants who made a convenience store payment
(*Refer to “4.Examination Fee.”)
After the payment, detach the Receipt Portion (Certificate of Payment) from the Examination Fee Statement given at the convenience store and submit it to us by airmail.
The Receipt Portion needs to be attached to the form that can be created online and printed out after you complete the Web Entry procedure.
14. Letter of Approval for Entrance Exam (Form of Your Selection) If applicable
  1. Individuals who currently attend a university or graduate school (except those who are expected to graduate by March 2023) need to submit a letter of approval allowing them to take the entrance examination, issued by the head of their university or graduate school (or the head of their department). Any format is acceptable.
  2. Individuals who currently work for a government agency, school, or company (except for part-time workers) need to submit a letter of approval allowing them to take the entrance examination, issued by their superior. Any format is acceptable.〔Individuals who are planning to resign and enter the university may replace the letter of approval for entrance examination with a letter clearly stating to that effect, provided however, that in this case, a “letter of resignation” at admission procedures should be submitted.〕
15. Certificate of Government-Sponsored (Japanese Government Monbukagakusho Scholarship) Foreign Student If applicable The certificate must be submitted by airmail.
If you are enrolled in another university at the time of application, submit the certificate of the government-sponsored (Japanese Government Monbukagakusho Scholarship) foreign student issued by the university.

*In case your current name is different from that on the documents you submit (e.g., because of marriage), submit with the proof (e.g., copy of your marriage license).

Address Sheet All applicants Attach the address sheet to your envelope when you submit the required documents to us by airmail.

Form for Submission of the Certificate of Payment of Application Fee Applicants who made a convenience store payment Attach the Receipt Portion (Certificate of Payment) of the Examination Fee Statement to the form and submit it to us by airmail.

Results from the entrance examination, as well as personal information obtained by the University of Tsukuba from the application documents, will be used not only for affairs concerning admission and screening, but also research and study aimed at improvement of the admission procedure and the university education. We will carefully take care of the data not to be disclosed as a specific person.
